No visit to Miami is complete without a stop at the historical 50-acre Vizcaya estate. This European-style mansion offers a glimpse at life in turn-of-the-century South Florida. It's also an extremely popular venue for galas, weddings and other entertainment events.

An Italian Renaissance-style estate built in 1916 as the winter residence of industrialist James Deering. Over 10 acres of formal gardens and fountains surround a villa containing 34 rooms of 15th through 19th-century antique furnishings and decorative arts. Vizcaya is one of only two officially designated national historic landmarks in Miami-Dade County by the National Register of Historic Places (the other is Freedom Tower).

Hours: Daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
House open until 5:00 p.m. Gardens open until 5:30 p.m.
Ticket booth closes at 4:30 p.m.

Guided tours often available.
Group tours may be arranged by appointment.
Moonlight tours: see the formal Italian gardens by moonlight. The program begins at 7:30 p.m., on designated evenings. Call 305/250-9133 for dates and reservations (required).

ACCESS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES Vizcaya offers accessible parking and restrooms, entrance and routing throughout the first floor and a viewing area overlooking the Gardens. You may request a map that will show access throughout the Gardens. Inaccessible areas are detailed in a photo book with written explanations.

For individuals who are blind or visually impaired, there is an audiotaped guided tour of the gardens and large print guide books.
